What Is a Skin Booster in Korea?
Skin booster is not one single treatment. It is a broad category of treatments aimed at improving skin quality.
This guide is educational and does not replace medical consultation. It helps you prepare better questions before speaking with a licensed clinician.

In Korea, the term "skin booster" is used widely. However, it does not refer to one single product or one standard procedure.
A skin booster may refer to different injectable or device-assisted treatments designed to improve skin quality. These treatments may target hydration, elasticity, texture, fine lines, redness, or collagen stimulation.
Because the ingredients and mechanisms differ, overseas visitors should not compare skin boosters by product name or price alone.
Why the term can be confusing
The same word, "skin booster," may be used for very different treatments. Some boosters mainly hydrate the skin. Some stimulate collagen production. Some aim to support repair or reduce inflammation. Some are used as adjuncts for pigmentation, redness, pores, or acne scars. Some are newer categories with less standardized clinical evidence.
This is why two clinics may both recommend a "skin booster," but the actual treatment plan may be very different.
Main skin booster mechanisms
Hydration and barrier support
Aim to improve moisture, smoothness, and skin surface quality. Examples may include HA-based boosters, glycerol-containing formulations, GAG-related approaches, or collagen-based boosters.
Collagen stimulation and dermal remodeling
Aim to activate fibroblasts and support new collagen formation. Examples may include PDLLA, PLLA, PCL, PDO, and CaHA-based approaches.
Regenerative or anti-inflammatory signaling
Often discussed in relation to repair, inflammation control, redness, wound healing, or tissue recovery. Examples may include PN/PDRN, PRP, growth factors, exosome-related products, and hADM-based approaches.
Pigment modulation and repair support
Used as adjuncts for melasma, dyschromia, post-procedure recovery, or pigment-related concerns. Examples may include tranexamic acid, antioxidant-based approaches, intradermal botulinum toxin in selected cases, spicules, or delivery systems.
What skin boosters may improve
Skin boosters are commonly used to improve hydration, elasticity, skin texture, fine lines, redness or erythema, dullness, pores and roughness, pigmentation or dyschromia support, and skin quality after other procedures. Results vary depending on the ingredient, technique, dose, treatment depth, number of sessions, and the person's skin condition.
What visitors should not assume
- Do not assume all skin boosters are the same.
- Do not assume a higher price always means a stronger treatment.
- Do not assume a cheaper price includes the same cc, vial count, aftercare, or doctor-performed procedure.
- Do not assume one session can solve melasma, acne scars, pores, laxity, and dryness at the same time.
- Do not assume newer regenerative-sounding treatments always have stronger evidence.
What to ask before booking a skin booster
- Which ingredient or product is being used?
- Is it HA, PN/PDRN, PDLLA, PLLA, CaHA, PRP, exosome-related, or another product?
- How many cc, vials, or syringes are included?
- Is the treatment full-face or limited to selected areas?
- How many sessions are usually recommended?
- What swelling, papules, bruising, or redness should I expect?
- Is this suitable for pigmentation-prone Southeast Asian skin?
- Can I do this during a short Seoul trip?
- Who performs the injection, and what aftercare is included?
